External Users

Last updated: July 10, 2020

To manage external users, expand the Item drop-down and choose the External Users option, but be aware that you must belong to a super user group with access to Administration features.

The screen shows a grid of the existing mapped external users and the Amulet Template user to whom they are mapped. The Organisation and Status columns are read-only; they show the Organisation to which the Amulet Template User belongs and indicate status issues with the mapping. When the Status field is blank (as shown below), there are no issues.

Click the Refresh button to reload the grid at any time.

Adding and Editing External Users

  1. Click the New External User button to reach the dialog of the same name.
  2. Enter the name of the External User (for example, john.doe@bentley.com).
  3. In the Amulet Template User field, enter the login name of the defined amulet user from whom they are to take their Amulet rights (the user will inherit the group and org in addition to the amulet setup options of this user).
  4. Click the Save button to update the grid with the new or altered user details. If all is correct, then the details are recorded and the Status column is clear.
    • An individual external user can have only one mapping. But many external users may be mapped to the same template user. If you enter an existing external user in another row and click save, an error message pops and a Status warning appears in the grid.
    • When the following symbol appears in the Status column, it indicates that the external user already has a mapping and that the information in this row is not saved in Amulet. You should either delete the row or amend the details in the grid accordingly. When the external user is edited in-grid (double-click on a field in the grid to edit it) and validated, the record is saved and the Status is cleared.
    • If a Template User is chosen that doesn’t exist in the database, a warning symbol appears in the Status column of the row. In the image below, you can see that two template users who don’t exist (perhaps their records have yet to be created) are shown. This information is still saved and retained, and if the two users ‘usernothere’ and ‘norami’ are created in Amulet as valid logins, then the warning indicators will vanish.

Deleting External Users

Left-click in the row of the record that you wish to remove from the grid then click the Delete Selected Row button.

You can select multiple rows in the grid via: Shift + left-click, Ctrl + left-click, Shift or Ctrl + a direction key, and clicking the Delete Selected Row button will remove all of them.
